After a decade away from the world of premium cigars, Tim Ozgener has returned with his new company Ozgener Family Cigars. Tim Ozgener is the son of Cano Aret Ozgener, who founded the famous CAO International back in the late 1970s as a producer of meerschaum pipes. By the time the 1990s rolled around, CAO entered the handmade cigar sector and the brand exploded in popularity, driven with the help of Tim Ozgener. After many years of success, CAO was sold to General Cigar where Tim Ozgener served as president of the brand for some time but would soon exit the industry to focus on other passions. During the pandemic, however, Tim Ozgener began reflecting on his heritage and history and decided to return to his first passion, blending top-quality cigars and decided to start his own brand, Ozgener Family Cigars. His reflection of heritage is exemplified by Ozgener Family Cigars’ inaugural release, Bosphorus. Hailing from Turkey, Ozgener named his first line after the Bosphorus Strait that runs through the center of Istanbul, the capitol city of Turkey, to celebrate his heritage. Bosphorus is made into four popular sizes by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo at Tabacalera La Alianza and feature a complex blend of Nicaraguan and Ecuadorian tobaccos.
